Wow Your Clients With London Stone’s Improved Showroom Displays - we've been busy making improvements - find out more!

We may be biased but, as Customer Experience Director Chris Durnford says, “I think we have the best range of showrooms out there.” Lately, though, they’ve needed a little improvement.

Dune Sawn Sandstone at the Middlesex Showroom - perfect for showing natural variation and pointing options

This is because stock changes, lines are discontinued, and new paving is introduced into our range. Every year we replace discontinued paving with new, meaning that some of the displays were becoming less coherent. As we prioritise customer service over anything else; that couldn’t continue.

“Our showrooms are really important to us,” says Chris, and we know how important it is to you to be able to bring clients to an attractive display where they can see stone properly laid outdoors. “You can see how a stone weathers and what it looks like wet or dry,” adds Chris.

When you’re surrounded by different options a bit of logic in the layout definitely helps. So this year, not only have we completed the routine work of laying new stock, but we’ve had a major overhaul, creating more customer-friendly displays, re-laying many of our products to ensure that the same types of stone are in the same section - all the sawn stone together, for example, and all those with a riven surface.

Where we like to think our showrooms shine particularly is in illustrating how our products fit into a home, with attractive planting and garden furniture all part of our layout. As you’ll have found this year if you’ve visited our stand at any of the trade and retail shows, we always put an emphasis on lifestyle displays, so clients can get a real feel for how a paving will look in their garden. This is one of the reasons we find we’re popular with retail visitors. “You really can’t get the same understanding of a product at a builders’ merchant where you’re given a slab of colour on a board and that’s it,” says Chris. “A small sample doesn’t do justice to a stone with different variations and colours.”

London Stone's Kent Showroom - now with garden furniture to help clients visualise their own outdoor schemes

Seeing a stone like Dune Sawn Sandstone or Raj Green Indian Sandstone will give a proper feel for the markings and the range of colour - impossible in a small sample. In fact, it’s not unknown for clients to arrive at a showroom with a firm view of what they want, only to change their mind and leave with a totally different stone on order.

So, if you haven’t visited one of our showrooms recently - especially those in Middlesex, Essex or Kent where around 40% of the display has, or is going to be be re-laid, why not swing by to check out what’s new? As always, we’re ready to welcome you with refreshments and a fine-tasting bean-to-cup coffee!
