Large Porcelain Patio Slabs

Our Large Patio Slabs: The Perfect Size for Your Outdoor Space

Opting for large patio slabs is a bold choice that creates a distinctively different feel for your patio. We'll also let you in on a little secret. Our large porcelain tiles are a designer's secret for fostering a sense of calm, as the reduced visibility of the joints creates a less busy, more seamless porcelain paving surface.

Adding to the sense of calm created by large patio slabs are our choice of subtle, blended colours. This is a deliberate choice for this size of slab. With large tiles, the surface takes a leading role in the overall design of your garden. A large slab with an arrangement that is too busy could quickly become overwhelming. However, in our large paving slab range, the colours are softened with gentle clouding and blended shades. Soft tones are ideal for a clean, minimalist design, whilst also contributing to a calm space.

Our large porcelain tiles are manufactured in exactly the same way and with exactly the same materials as our Luxury Italian paving, giving you guaranteed and long-lasting quality. We also offer two striking tile sizes with prices starting at £55 + vat/m2 - 800x800 and 1200x1200.

Installing Our Extra Large Patio Slabs

Because of the impression made by the weight of these slabs on the bedding layer, it can be very time-consuming to correct a mistake. Because of this, it's vital that you take the time to get the depth of the bedding layer right and make sure the slab goes down correctly the first time. Landscapers will also often use a porcelain levelling system when laying large format porcelain, as this will help to avoid any lips between slabs.

Each 1200x1200 porcelain slab weighs approximately 75 kg, so installation is a two person job. We recommend using a vacuum lifter to install these outdoor tiles safely. A vacuum lifter will also help to ensure that you place the slab perfectly the first time around.

A vacuum lifter, such as those made by Probst, is operated by two people. A Probst vacuum lifter reduces the need to bend and is an ergonomic way to shift heavy slabs more easily, with a lower risk of injury to the installer.

You could also opt to use suction cups, although you'll need to bend and lift when using them. We recommend using a suction cup with a vacuum pump, as these devices can lift greater weights - RUBI suction cups with a vacuum pump can lift up to 110 kg in weight. For more information on suction cups, see our 800x800 large paving slabs.
