Classic DesignBoard composite decking boards, with a lightly combed texture and range of popular colours, combine a sleek, contemporary character with a matt finish that has a pleasing organic feel. WPC Decking – or Wood Plastic Composite – combines wood fibres or wood flour with plastic polymers. The intention is to create a product with the desirable properties of both wood and plastic. It’s a term that is sometimes used universally for composite decking boards. Here it is a misnomer. DesignBoard has the advantage of containing no wood whatsoever. Instead, it is made up of 50% rice husks, a highly renewable and abundant resource that is high in silica, which makes it very dense.
The advantages of rice husks in composite decking boards
Rice husks are also highly water-resistant. It is these husks that gives DesignBoard Classic its natural look and extremely hard-wearing character. Easy to clean, highly scratch- and fade-resistant, with a chlorine-resistance that makes them a good choice as a swimming pool surround, these composite decking boards come with a 10-year guarantee, so you can be sure they’ll retain their good looks for many years to come.
Does composite decking fade?
All composite decking boards fade—so does wood—but the speed at which it does so depends on the quality of the materials. Thanks to the robust components used, Classic DesignBoard colours fade at a minimal 1% per year. This compares very favourably with timber, which will be noticeably different after only a few years, and requires regular staining or oiling to maintain its colour.
