This week some of the team from London Stone headed off futurescapeto Sandown Park for the Futurescape Show – a trade show put on by Pro Landscaper aimed at landscapers, contractors, garden designers and landscape architects. We have redesigned our stand to showcase a wider range of our stone with eye catching displays of our brand new off-the-shelf sawn copings and edgings, our recently expanded range of off-the-shelf step treads, as well as our sawn paving slabs and masonry services.

The exhibitors included well-known growers with displays of nursery stock and specimen planting. It was interesting to see suppliers of meadow turf alongside the increasingly popular artificial ‘lawns’. For lovers of ‘boys’ toys’ with deep pockets, there were displays of new power tools.

The event was also supported by our industry trade bodies – BALI, the APL and the SGD as well as the increasingly popular online forum, Landscape Hub who came ‘offline’ for the day.

We had streams of visitors after the well-attended seminars which are now a pre-requisite for all trade shows as they provide an opportunity to learn more about industry trends, best practice and new innovations.

Visitors to our stand were keen to look at the range of sawn coping stones, edgings and bullnosed step treads which we are now holding in stock ready for delivery. We feel this provides our contractors and landscapers with an even better service, providing a complete solution in gardens with multiple levels and walls.  Our ‘Off-the-shelf Coping, Steps & Edgings’ display board featured some custom engraving on the edging stones allowing us to display the product names. engraving This engraving work was carried out in-house on our CNC machine and is something we can offer to clients requiring house names or company names and numbers or any other bespoke lettering to match their stone paving.

To help new customers unfamiliar with our range of paving stones, copings and step treads, we displayed a sample of the following:

  • Heath sawn sandstone paving
  • Abbey sawn sandstone paving
  • Moleanos beige limestone paving
  • Classic Travertine filled paving
  • Blue black slate paving
  • Silver grey granite paving
  • Blue grey granite paving

Two of the directors of London Stone, Steven and Gavin Walley, attended the show as they find it beneficial to meet existing and new customers face to face and to talk about the ranges in more detail. Gavin commented that the most popular sawn sandstone ranges are in beige tones which suit many situations giving a clean, contemporary look. The warm colours complement brickwork or render and tone well against planting and garden furniture.

Visitors to our stand also had the opportunity to view and order our ever popular sample box, which is fast becoming an essential part of a garden designer’s and landscaper’s kit. Rebecca Walley, the Marketing Manager for London Stone said: ‘The show was great, we had  wonderful time chatting away to people we know and also to lots of new faces.’
