In the past 18 months with London Stone, Craig has brought great enthusiasm, experience and energy to his role as Business Development Manager. With years of experience in the property and construction sector, Craig knows exactly what London Stone’s customers are looking for when it comes to stone.
His week combines keeping in touch with existing customers and developing new relationships with landscapers, garden designers, building companies and architects. Based in offices at the London Stone Bespoke Stone Centre he is ideally placed to liaise with the production team on the progress of orders. His aim is to always provide clients with a first class service. Since joining the company he has seen an increase in the demand for bespoke stone products, particularly coping stones, pier caps and step treads. As well as the ever popular indian sandstone paving, Craig is seeing strong demand for British stone - for example, Portland Stone and Yorkstone.
Although most of his communications are on the phone or by email, he has embraced social media and uses Twitter and LinkedIn as another way of contacting people. Ideally, he likes to get out of the office one day a week to meet landscapers and garden designers face to face. These meetings allow Craig the opportunity to find out which stone paving is in fashion and to show samples of new paving slabs. He takes a look at the plans for upcoming projects and sees his role as a valued adviser to his customers. He is frequently asked for alternative patio ideas when a project needs to meet a specific budget. His experience in interior stone means he is adept at helping customers come up with alternative hard landscaping designs and suggesting different patio slabs.
London Stone has been successfully supplying stone to some of the UK’s most well-known designers for their show gardens at Chelsea, Tatton Park and Hampton Court and Craig considers this is a great way to raise the profile of the London Stone brand amongst the trade as well as with homeowners. He also enjoys attending the trade shows, such as the Landscape Show and Futurescape which gives the team further opportunities to meet new clients.
Indian sandstone paving is the most popular of London Stone’s ranges particularly Beige, Harvest, Buff and Grey. Craig is looking forward to some new colours which are in the pipeline which will give customers even more choice. He is a big fan of Jura Beige, a limestone paving from Germany which looks great on all projects.
