Yew, or "Taxus baccata" is the perfect plant choice for topiary cones. The slow growth of this hedge means that you can mostly leave it and it will still retain its impressive shapes. Simply prune once a year to keep it looking neat and tidy. This bushy, evergreen shrub will make a stunning addition to any garden. Either use them to make impressive focal points, either in front of your home, either side of the front door or along the garden pathway. These plants will also add a unique touch and add an interesting element of texture when used within a larger planting scheme. Growing ConditionsTaxus are as tough as they come. A species that will tolerate exposure, dry soils and urban pollution. It is also ok in full shade. This makes a great specimen plant for topiary and hedging.
Soil Requirements

Taxus baccata will grow in any well drained soil; it can grow in multiple soil types such as; chalk, clay, loam, sand.

It is a versatile plant that is able to grow in soil that varies in pH levels (acid, alkaline, neutral).

Watering Requirements

The key to growing Taxus is to avoid them from getting too wet. Often when planting its beneficial to add some grit to the planting hole to help improve drainage.

Equally, during the summer months ensure they don’t dry out.

Maintenance

To shape, prune hard in late spring.

Hedges and shrubs can be lightly trimmed all throughout its growth periods, it can also be pruned right back, even into old wood. If you would like it to grow to more of a height.

Returns

Cancel up to 14 days from the date of delivery. Products to be returned in the same condition and packaging. Products require watering in order to stay in the same condition.

You will be responsible for returning the product to London Stone. Collection can be made by us but this will incur a £40 + VAT collection charge.
