It is a versatile plant that is able to grow in soil that varies in pH levels (acid, alkaline, neutral).

Watering RequirementsKeep soil moist during warmer months, reduce irrigation in autumn and remove completely in winter.
Maintenance

Photinia should be trimmed to a formal hedge shape in late winter/early spring.

It is hardy and resistant to a good prune which will allow it to flourish in spring with its notorious flame red fresh growth. However, it can be left informal and this will encourage it to flower. It can just be trimmed down in height and width when needed.
