RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2014: London Stone products on display

One of the ways we build business relationships with landscapers and builders is in supplying paving for their gardens at the main horticultural shows throughout the year. This year is no exception and we are proud to be involved with no less than four of the show gardens at Hampton Court.

Al Fresco Garden

The ‘Al Fresco’ Garden, in the Summer Gardens category, designed by Peter Reader and built and sponsored by Living Landscapes, is a garden which will appeal to everyone who likes to relax, cook and eat outside in a stylish space. With a dining area covered by a pergola and a pool fed from a sleek, modern waterfall the hard landscaping is complemented with soft planting including herbs. We have built a very friendly relationship with Peter and supplied some Yorkstone for his show garden at Hampton court last year: ‘Four Corners’, which won Silver Gilt medal and the People’s Choice Award for Small Gardens. This year he has selected Moleanos Blue Limestone with its beautiful blue-grey finish shown in the picture above.

Lust

The second garden is sponsored by the RHS, designed by Rachel Parker Soden and built by Burnham Landscaping. With the enticing title ‘Lust’, the garden is dominated by a glowing glasshouse filled with specific plants which demonstrate some of their more bizarre reproductive features! Rachel has used our Kandla Grey sandstone setts and Raj Green sandstone setts for the main hard landscaping material in the garden.

One Hundred Years from Now

London Stone’s South East London showroom is based at Cooling’s Garden Centre in Kent which is celebrating its centenary this year. For the third garden, we are pleased to be the joint sponsors with them of the ‘One Hundred Years From Now’ garden, which has been designed by Alex Lindsay and built by Evergreen Design & Build. The garden is based on an amphitheatre with bands of planting in concentric circles which reflect Coolings’ company colours and the Kent landscape. We have a good relationship with Evergreen supplying some of their projects over the years. In this garden our Buff Sawn Sandstone has been used for the main central paved area and the paths.

London City Garden

For the fourth garden, we have supplied a beautiful Black Basalt sawn paving with its dark, blue-black colour and smooth finish. This complements the planting perfectly in the ‘London City Garden’ designed by Jonathan Mark and built by London Landscape & Garden Design. The design includes three large stone pieces which appear to float over a pebble pool. They look as though they are suspended defying gravity. The garden is bordered by trees providing a backdrop for two layers of planting including ferns, irises, hostas and box.

We are sure that visitors will enjoy all the gardens at Hampton Court this year and look forward building on the already strong relationships we have with both designers and landscapers.
