DesignBoard composite decking is a great product to incorporate into your garden scheme. Why DesignBoard

When we spoke to Dee, she told us that composite decking was not her clients' first choice. Initially they were hesitant to install decking at all. Having samples that they could hold and feel made a big difference, though. And after Dee explained how easy DesignBoard is to maintain, and showed them pictures of the product used elsewhere, they were very enthusiastic. Silver DesignBoard Composite Decking is part of our extensive range of Outdoor Decking, and Dee chose it for its stylish light tones and minimalist elegance. The bright hues of the decking complement both the inside and outside of the home, to create the unified look that the client was after. The decking leads down the bespoke steps to the paved areas, featuring our Trendy Black Porcelain Paving. The choice of colours creates a beautiful contrast between the paving and the decking.

The Garden Shape

The space that needed decking was awkward and quite difficult to work with in places. This is what led to cutting composite decking into the hexagon-type shape that you see. We think you'll agree it's this beautiful shape, and the exact cutting of the DesignBoard, that make this project. Each cut of the decking was carefully planned from the beginning, and in no way an afterthought. The angle that was chosen minimised the cutting required and created the long, continuous strips that your eyes follow. The decking runs parallel to the steps to avoid cut ends, and the pencil-round and mitred edges were all part of the plan. Finally, the beautiful built-in flowerbeds, with matching decking used for the copings, add the perfect finishing touch. Built from scratch, they perfectly complement the decking, as well as having a second use, providing a safety element as something to hold on to as you descend the stairs.

Installation

When we spoke to Matt Brockhurst of Brockstone Landscape Construction, who built this project, he told us that it was the first time they had used DesignBoard from us. He said it was an easy product to work with and found it really easy to install. This is not only because DesignBoard uses a simple clip system, but also because we provide all the ancillaries you need to lay decking. The DesignBoard may have been specified by Dee Stewart Garden Design, but Brockstone also really liked the finish on the boards. Ordering the pencil-round profile boards for the edges that were exposed, like the steps, gave the deck area a really good-looking finish that Matt was extremely pleased with.
